Shining a Light on Substance Misuse in Franklin County will be the topic of discussion during a free community event Thursday night from 6 to 8:30 at the Whittington Church in Whittington. It’s located at 200 West Main.

According to the event’s Facebook page, this free community event hopes to open a dialogue about substance misuse issues and solutions in the Franklin County area.

There will be a documentary screening of “Heroin(e)”, and award winning short film about a small town in West Virginia’s struggle with the opioid epidemic. Following the film there will be a community discussion with a panel of experts about these issues, free Narcan training by Egyptian Health Department (Narcan will also be distributed at the end of the training), and the Hidden in Plain Sight display.

The Franklin County Substance Misuse Coalition has organized this event.
