CENTRALIA — A 30-year-old Centralia man was arrested this morning after a standoff with Marion County Sheriff’s deputies and Centralia police officers in the 700 block of Razback in Centralia.

According to Lt. Deputy Andy Garden of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had been trying to serve Bart N. Brown with an order of protection and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Garden says Brown saw the deputies and went inside his Razback home, then dropped through the floor and hid in the crawl space.

Scanner traffic indicated that deputies and Centralia police officers had a perimeter set up around the home and a .357 handgun was recovered from the home.

Garden confirms that deputies entered the home when they saw a handgun in open view. Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison confirms that firearm was reported stolen to Centralia police in 2004.

Brown, who is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess a firearm, was ultimately taken into custody peacefully.

A 34-year-old man was also arrested at the scene. Garden says Anthony Marcum had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
